Can it be true that our patriotism is waning? I feel it leaking away each day as the 9/11 attacks grow distant.
Our war stories are filled with military frustration and public angst. Our homeland concerns seem more like 20/20 investigations than issues of national security. Even our charitable efforts are wrought with disfunction.
It's a far cry from the flag waving, tear jerking moments that followed the attack. Has America forgotten about the towers falling? Do we need to be shocked again?
I fear the state of our nation had just one plane hit. Or, had just a few people lost their lives. We might not have even noticed.
